The Connect Feb. 27
The February Connect with Special Guest Kimberly Airhart from Harts of Teal
At the age of 41 and a young mother to 5 children, Kimberly Airhart was diagnosed in 2020 with ovarian cancer, specifically at stage 3c/stage 4. Unaware of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, she felt compelled to spread this crucial message. After completing her treatment, Kim sensed a calling to utilize her journey to assist other women. Additionally, she wanted to create a positive experience for her family amid the trials and emphasize the importance of early detection through community education about the signs and symptoms, given the absence of a definitive test for ovarian cancer, with 80% of cases discovered in late stages.
In 2021, Kim initiated Harts of Teal, with a primary focus on educating women in the community, aiding them in overcoming their diagnoses, and navigating survivorship. The Blessings Through Trials ministry naturally evolved from the relationships built with other women on a similar path. Kim and her team provide encouragement, friendship, and prayer, organizing support groups in person and on Zoom monthly. They distribute Blessing Bags to women undergoing treatment, along with various gift baskets and gift cards to assist with meals during the recovery process.
The mission is to empower women of all ages to stay connected with their bodies, advocating for their health by recognizing early warning signs and subtle changes. Unfortunately, the community has witnessed the loss of several women this year, emphasizing the urgency of their work. Those who have received assistance from Harts of Teal express immense gratitude, sharing that the organization brought new life to them during challenging times, ultimately extending their survival.
Harts of Teal’s most significant fundraiser, a Color Run, is scheduled for June 8, 2024, in Fayetteville/Peachtree City, Ga. Interested individuals can participate, sponsor, or make donations through www.hartsofteal.org, with more details to be announced soon.
