2009 BWFC Award Ceremony
At the February 2010 meeting of the BWFC, member Jalon Burton had the honor of presenting The 2009 BWFC Award to Ms. Wendy Maguire, co-founder & BWFC Chair and Ms. Patti Kadkhodaian, co-founder & BWFC Secretary.
For those of you who were unable to attend, here is Jalon’s introduction of these two honorees:
In celebration of the one year anniversary of the Business Women of Fayette and Coweta, I have the honor tonight of presenting The Annual BWFC Award that gives recognition to high achieving women leaders within our organization who have established a legacy of excellence and contributed significantly to their community.
Let me give you just a little background here, BWFC was formed one year ago with the intent of empowering business women and helping the less fortunate within our community. The organization had an initial membership of approximately 12 ladies. Tonight, after only one year, we can be proud of our 45 members and the impact that this organization has had in our community with Domestic Violence and the Community Welcome House and the American Cancer Society and the Cattle Barons’ Ball.
I would like to share with you a little something from an article in the Citizen Newspaper about our organization: One of tonight’s honorees was quoted as saying that the precursor of this organization formed about three years ago with only a few women gathering together and doing low-key fund raising for several different charities – after seeing those ladies’ involvement, she decided they needed to pool their resources and up the ante to make a bigger impact within the community.
Tonight’s second honoree was also quoted in the article as saying that she knew the business ladies of our community wanted and needed to do more and that their initial success in fund raising encouraged her to make that small gathering of business ladies an official organization.
The idea of empowering business women and helping give back for a better community is one of brilliance and that brilliance is evident here tonight with all of us.
Members of the Business Women of Fayette and Coweta, it is my honor and privilege to present tonight The 2009 BWFC Award to two of our founding members who have done so much towards the establishment and success of this great organization… they are, as the award says, high achieving women leaders within our organization who have established a legacy of excellence and contributed significantly to their community.
Our 2009 BWFC Award goes to Ms. Wendy Maguire, co-founder and Chair of BWFC and Ms. Patti Kadkhodaian, co-founder and Secretary of BWFC.
